Event-Based Detection of Concurrency ; CU-CS-860-98

چکیده
Understanding the behavior of a system is crucial in being able to modify, maintain, and improve the system. A particularly difficult aspect of some system behaviors is concur-rency. While there are many techniques to specify intended concurrent behavior, there are few, if any, techniques to capture and model actual concurrent behavior. This paper presents a technique to discover patterns of concurrent behavior from traces of system events. The technique is based on a probabilistic analysis of the event traces. Using met-rics for the number, frequency, and regularity of event occurrences, a determination is made of the likely concurrent behavior being manifested by the system. The technique is useful in a wide variety of software engineering tasks, including architecture discovery, reengineering, user interaction modeling, and software process improvement. Solid Phase Extraction of Amount Cu(II) Using C18 Disks Modified Schiff Base-Chitosan Grafted Multiwalled Carbon Nanotubes
A novel and selective method for the fast determination of trace amounts of Cu(II) ions in water samples has been developed. The procedure is based on the selective formation of Cu(II) at optimum pH by elution with organic eluents and determination by flame atomic absorption spectrometry. The method is based on complex formation on the surface of the ENVI-18 DISKTM disks modified Schiff base-ch...

متن کاملDesign of a Scalable Event Notification Service: Interface and Architecture ; CU-CS-863-98
Event-based distributed systems are programmed to operate in response to events. An event notification service is an application-independent infrastructure that supports the construction of event-based systems. While numerous technologies have been developed for supporting event-based interactions over local-area networks, these technologies do not scale well to wide-area networks such as the I...
متن کاملA Survey of Concurrency Control Algorithms in the Operating Systems
Concurrency control is one of the important problems in operation systems. Various studies have been reported to present different algorithms to address this problem, although a few attempts have been made to represent an overall view of the characteristics of these algorithms and comparison of their capabilities to each other. This paper presents a survey of the current methods for controlling...
متن کاملAn Intentional Library Approach to Lock-Aware Transactional Memory ; CU-CS-1048-08
Transactional memory (TM) has garnered significant interest as an alternative to existing concurrency methods due to its simplified programming model, natural composition characteristics and native support of optimistic concurrency. Yet, mutual exclusion locks are ubiquitous in existing parallel software due to their fast execution, inherent property for irreversible operations and long-standin...
